I was reading a book titled “Essential Pleasures” which is essentially a collection of poems compiled by Robert Pinsky. In it, he talked about how the combination of words in poetry sounded either in actual or imagined voice. I’ve only read one-fifth of the book, and it is quite an interesting read as it analyzes poems from different authors, how the makeup of the words and structure stimulate the auditory sense. I do find some of the poems quite difficult to understand, as the words used are somewhat obscure. Most likely, I need to improve my vocabulary.
